ANATOMIE D'UN MOTEUR
Other Animals’ new creation Anatomie d’un Moteur transforms manual labor into a cathartic dance.
Alexandre Morin performs a demanding solo partition recalling his roots and family history in a docu-fictional approach. In the choreographer’s family, the career of auto bodywork mechanic is passed on from father to son. He grew up as an outcast in an environment where metal is twisted and shaped, where men are built through the labor of their hands. In partnership with his brother Gabriel, who works on the body of a vehicle on-screen during the show, he embraces that heritage, transforming manual labor into a sculptural dance, revisiting traces of a rural life. The voice and text of the author Mathieu Leroux, as well as the film and music of Jonathan Goulet nourish a space where queer fantasies and personal archives materialize.
‘’Alexandre Morin delivers a formidable performance filled with sensibility. Thanks to his expressivity and technical mastery, he amazes us with his stage presence. His strength, humor and tenderness resonates in every one of his movements, creating a real connection with the audience.’’
